About this Course

This course is designed for SWAT officers currently serving in a sniper/observer role or those preparing to transition into that position within their team. It provides the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective law enforcement sniper operations.

Course Topics Include:

  • Marksmanship fundamentals and shooting positions
  • Proper rifle setup and configuration
  • Basic sniper theory
  • Data book usage and maintenance
  • Weapons maintenance
  • Mil and MOA concepts
  • Sniper deployment and operations
  • Camouflage and concealment techniques
  • Ballistics fundamentals
  • Legal considerations
  • Observation and intelligence gathering
  • Engaging moving targets

 

Course Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, students will demonstrate proficiency in fundamental marksmanship skills, understand the principles of law enforcement sniper deployment and operations, and possess a working knowledge of camouflage and concealment techniques.
Students are required to achieve a minimum score of 80% on a written examination and successfully pass the FBI sniper qualification course.

Equipment You need to Bring

  • Notebook, pens, and markers

  • SWAT/sniper callout uniform and associated equipment

  • Precision rifle with scope and bipod (capable of 1 MOA accuracy or better)

  • 500 rounds of match-grade ammunition

  • Tripod with rifle support/rest

  • Gas mask

  • Duty pistol with holster

  • Eye and hearing protection

  • Binoculars or spotting scope

  • Rifle cleaning kit

  • Camouflage materials

Suggested (Not Required):

  • Elbow and knee pads, gloves, hat, and inclement weather gear

  • Shooting mat, sunscreen, and insect repellent

  • First aid kit and camouflage face covering

  • Rifle case or bag
